To apply for the Canada Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC) you need to full fill the eligibility Criteria.
a) Have employment offers from at least two Canadian employers of which one must be at least for a one-year duration OR a Qualification Certificate from a territorial or provincial body;
b) Possess proof of proficiency in a primary language from a designated language testing organization, showcasing that the applicant is above the minimum threshold set by the Minister — Canadian Level Benchmark (CLB) 5 for speaking and listening, CLB 4 for reading and writing;
c) Have at least 24 months of qualified work experience in the skilled trade in the past five years; and
d) Be able to testify the skills and knowledge that they have undertaken the essential duties of the occupation.
If you fulfill the above eligibility criteria, you have some chance of clearing the application process.
However, you shall be preferred over the other eligible candidates if you have the following educational qualifications apart from standing high on the above eligibility criteria :
• Have completed high school or post-secondary diploma from Canada, OR
• Have completed high school or post-secondary diploma from foreign AND a have a report that is approved by Citizen and Immigration Canada mentioning that the foreign diploma is equivalent to Canadian high school or post-secondary diploma.
The applying candidate may include their spouse’s details in their application. If the candidate feels that their spouse fulfills the eligibility criteria better than himself/herself, then they must fill the form on behalf of their spouse and mention themselves as the dependent.
You may also include your common-law partner’s details in place of the spouse’s circumstances. Anybody who has lived with the applicant in a conjugal relationship for more than 12 months is a common-law partner of the applicant. The common-law partner may be of the same or different sex as the applicant.
