All about IELTS Band Score

The IELTS Band Score is a four-component average, which is rounded to the nearest whole or the half band. The IELTS band score ratings for the elements are weighted equally. IELTS is an assessment designed to measure a candidate’s English proficiency. Therefore the ability to understand and use the language plays a significant role in determining your band ratings.

They check your total number of right answers in reading and listening, and then give an IELTS Listening Band Score and IELTS Reading Band Score based on that. There is a total of 40 questions in each of the modules.  So, if the candidate responds correctly to 39 or 40 questions, you’ll get an IELTS band score of 9. Likewise, 37–38 right questions will earn you an 8.5 band ranking, and so on.

What is IELTS?

It is an English language assessment test used mainly by those seeking to study abroad. IELTS exam manages, produces and organizes ESOL Examinations through the collaboration of the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and the University of Cambridge. It is the most popular English Language Tests exerted by the aspirants studying abroad.

More than 9,000 organizations around the world recognize IELTS, including educational institutions, employers, governments, immigration authorities, and professional bodies. More than 2 million people answered the IELTS entrance exam to study abroad last year. Test takers can take IELTS in over 140 countries and at more than 1,000 sites.

The IELTS Writing test is distinguished by professional IELTS Exam Pattern examiners who are intensively trained and supervised to ensure labeling consistency and quality, regardless of where the test is being carried out in the world. At least two examiners would mark the Writing test, and even up to three to four–that’s what they do to ensure maximum accuracy and impartiality.

If the sum of the four variables ends in .25, the overall IELTS band score will be exterminated to another half band, and when it concludes in.75, the overall IELTS band score will be rounding up to another entire band.
